TWA Flight Center
AN Architectural Icon
The TWA Flight Center, designed by renowned architect Eero Saarinen, is one of the most iconic piece of 20th-century architecture. Completed in 1962 as a passenger concourse for Trans World Airlines, the building features sweeping concrete curves and soaring, wing-like roof that intended to capture the spirit of flight, and the wonder and optimism of the modern Jet Age. At its peak, the passenger terminal handled over 20 million passengers annually and served the New York area for almost 40 years — including the Kurkela Family.
